Pet CBD — Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our CBD tinctures made for dogs and cats.

Is CBD safe to give my dog or cat?

We formulate our pet tinctures specifically for animals, using broad-spectrum or CBD isolate hemp extract (never Delta-8, Delta-9, or other intoxicating cannabinoids, which are not appropriate for pets) with pet-friendly flavors. That said, we're not veterinarians, and every animal is different — please talk with your vet before giving your pet any new supplement, especially if they're pregnant, nursing, elderly, or already taking medication.

What's the difference between broad-spectrum and CBD isolate pet tinctures?

Broad-spectrum pet tinctures include multiple hemp-derived compounds with the THC removed. CBD isolate contains only purified CBD. Both of our pet tinctures are formulated with 0% intentional THC content, since THC can be harmful to animals even in small amounts.

How much CBD oil should I give my pet?

We're not able to recommend a specific dose for a specific pet or outcome — the right amount can depend on your pet's size, individual sensitivity, and health history. Please start with your veterinarian's guidance, or a very small amount, and observe your pet closely before giving more.

How do I give my pet a CBD tincture?

Most pet owners mix the tincture into their pet's food or a treat, or apply it directly by dropper if their pet will tolerate it. Our dog and cat tinctures are flavored (bacon, peanut butter, salmon, and chicken) to make this easier.

Could giving my pet CBD cause them to test positive on a drug test, or get them intoxicated?

Our pet tinctures are formulated to contain no intentional THC, so they're not designed to intoxicate your pet. If your pet is a working or service animal subject to drug testing, check with the relevant organization about their policy on hemp-derived CBD, and always keep intoxicating cannabinoid products (Delta-8, Delta-9, THCA, etc.) away from pets entirely, since these can be dangerous for animals.

Are pet products made and tested the same way as human products?

Our pet tinctures are made in the same facility and tested by the same independent, accredited lab as our human product line, with batch-specific Certificates of Analysis available on our Lab Results page. The formulations themselves are made specifically for animals.

When should I talk to a veterinarian before giving my pet CBD?

Always check with your vet before starting any new supplement if your pet is pregnant or nursing, is a puppy or kitten, has an existing health condition, or is taking any medication — cannabinoids can interact with certain drugs. If your pet shows any unusual reaction, stop use and contact your veterinarian.

Keep Delta-8, Delta-9, THCA, and other intoxicating cannabinoid products away from pets — they are formulated for human use only and can be harmful to animals.
