Major and Minor Cannabinoids

Apr 17th 2024

Did you know that in addition to CBD, Hemp contains over 100 different cannabinoids, each with their own physical or physiological benefits? The Major Cannabinoids that most people are familiar with are CBD and THC, but there are a number of Minor Cannabinoids that can be just as soothing. Now let's go into a little more detail:

Major Cannabinoids:

THC - (Tetrahydrocannabinol) This Cannabinoid is the most popular and most prominent in the Cannabis Industry - specifically Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC. This compound is known for giving the consumer the euphoric "high" feeling and for having major pain relieving properties. Many use THC to aid their Anxiety and Depression as well, but it's important to note that in higher doses, THC can sometimes aggravate the issue and increase the users' Anxiety.

CBD - (Cannabidiol) CBD has become a staple in the Cannabis Industry over the last decade, and for great reason! CBD is an amazing compound that can be used to help regulate the nervous, endocrine, and muscular systems, and bring the body to homeostasis - the body's natural state of balance. CBD is non-intoxicating, making it a great choice when looking for holistic, natural relief without the high.

Minor Cannabinoids:

CBG - (Cannabigerol) Present in low levels in most Hemp strains, CBG is known as the "Mother of All Cannabinoids," since this compound is the the precursor to our favorite Cannabinoids, like CBD! There is growing interest in CBG with cancer research, as studies suggest that CBG has the potential to block the receptors that support cancer cell growth. CBG has also been known to help relieve Inflammation, Anxiety, and Depression.

CBN - (Cannabinol) CBN may have an incredibly wide array of medicinal potential, with studies showing that CBN can be Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Inflammatory, can aid issues like Glaucoma, can stimulate Appetite, and may act as a Neuroprotectant! There is even promise that CBN may have the ability to delay early onset ALS. In addition, when used in conjunction with CBD, CBN can be a powerful sleep aid. High levels of this compound can often be found in older Flower, as CBN forms when THC ages and breaks down. So don't throw out that old flower just yet!

CBC - (Cannabichromene) Originating from the CBG precursor just like THC and CBD, CBC is still in the early stages of research and development. However, this compound has shown potential to help with issues linked to Chronic Pain and Depression. It has also provide an increased feeling of relief when combined with other Cannabinoids through what we call the "Entourage Effect." This simply means that the Cannabinoids work more effectively when used in conjunction!
